Attendees will be able to choose from a variety of hands-on, experiential lessons taught by our talented faculty, including:
- Math through the Grades with Mr. Lawton and Ms. Gerrick
From stepping and clapping in grade 1, to freehand geometry in grade 5, to using the quadratic formula in grade 8, come experience how Waldorf schools incorporate movement and imagination into their math curriculum.
- Practical Arts with Teacher Anderson and Teacher Kelley
Learn about the approaches, challenges, and benefits of Woodworking at City of Lakes Waldorf School. Experience an overview of what the 4th through 8th grades tackle, and carve an owl with Teacher Anderson!
- Phenomenological Physics with Ms. Garcia and Ms. Crawford
Come experience firsthand how Waldorf science turns science education on its head! Teaching through direct experience of phenomena, honing powers of observation, drawing conclusions, and finally forming concepts allows students to develop their thinking and learn directly from the world around them.
- History through Storytelling and Biography with Ms. Steeves and Mr. Frantzich
Learn how our teachers use the art of storytelling as a powerful method for learning history, language arts, and social studies, as well as promoting social health in the classroom. In this session attendees will experience an activity for both younger and older grades students.
Why Waldorf?
The future you are leaving to your children will require more than book-smarts. It will call for courage, creativity, and care. These are the precise qualities that Waldorf has nurtured for the past 100 years.
