Today—Monday, November 22, 2021—our school is celebrating a major milestone. Following a capital campaign and with a substantial loan from RSF Social Finance, City of Lakes Waldorf School purchased our historic building in 1999.
We moved into our permanent home at 2344 Nicollet Avenue South in February of 2000. We gradually transformed this beautiful structure into a school building and for the past 21 years, part of every tuition or fundraising dollar has gone to paying our mortgage on our beloved home. TODAY, we made the final payment on our mortgage and own our home!
Going forward we will begin to set aside money for the extensive capital improvements needed to ensure that the school’s building and grounds can continue to serve our students and teachers for the next 21 years and beyond. Towards that end, we are also relaunching our fundraising efforts (paused at the start of the pandemic) to support some important capital goals and 2021-22 school year operations. More information is coming soon!
Tremendous gratitude to ALL of our teachers, staff, current and alumni families, and community members who have assisted us in realizing this milestone achievement.
Pictured above: Several kindergarten students flock to Mr. Kane, our beloved Aesthetic Coordinator and longtime Art and Woodworking teacher, as he shares stories about our school’s history (and the joy of cake!). Also pictured is our capital campaign brochure from 1999, the year the school raised more than $1 million in four months to fund the initial purchase of our historic building.
