Hey crafty community: Can we make 100 masks to donate to our Healthcare Heroes by May 5? Or can you donate materials so others can?
A global giving campaign called Giving Tuesday is creating a special day to help organizations through the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on Tuesday, May 5.
One of the signature pieces of a Waldorf education is handwork. What better way to highlight and use our talents than to create masks for healthcare workers? Are you in? Here’s what we’ll do:
- What: Let’s set a goal of sewing 100 masks for our community to collectively donate to area hospitals by the Giving Tuesday deadline on May 5.
- Who: Students, staff, parents, grandparents, alumni, friends of the school, neighbors, etc. If you want to sew masks, great! We’ll take them.
- How: Create masks based on the mask pattern here. All masks will be washed at the hospital before use.
- Why: Because we know how to sew and the world need us! Let’s do this!
If you have material or elastic to donate, or need help, please contact Handwork Teacher Liz Kelley at liz@clws.org.
To arrange for pickup or drop off of completed masks, please contact Anne O’Connor, Development Director, at anneoconnor@clws.org or 608.606.4808. We’ll bring the masks to healthcare workers on May 5. We’re aiming for 100 to honor the 100th anniversary of Waldorf Education.
