Where space is available in a given class or grade level, children may be admitted to the school year around, on a rolling basis. New families seeking tuition assistance submit an application for tuition assistance once they receive notification from the school that their child has been accepted to the school. New families’ applications for tuition assistance are accepted on a rolling basis as well.
Over 1/3 of City of Lakes Waldorf School students receive tuition assistance. Tuition for the year may be paid in full or over a 10 month payment plan period.
City of Lakes Waldorf School has a Tuition Assistance program to help families that might otherwise find the cost of private education restrictive. Within our budgeted resources, we hope to provide some assistance to those who meet the criteria. Tuition assistance is available for families with children in Kindergarten through Grade Eight. Assistance is not given for Kindergarten aftercare. The primary responsibility for financing a child’s education rests with the family. We expect families to make education a priority in the budgeting of financial resources. The mission of the Tuition Assistance program is to determine the amount of support that each family can offer that is equitable both for the school and the family. The range of tuition assistance awarded generally falls between 5% and 60% of tuition costs.
Documentation is required when applying for tuition assistance. A company called Tuition Aid Data Services (TADS) is used to provide an objective analysis of what each family can afford to pay. TADS has a national perspective on need analysis and has specialized expertise in analyzing financial data and developing need formulas. Current families at the school must submit a completed TADS application by February 15, 2012. New applicants to the school must submit a completed TADS application upon receiving notification that their child has been accepted to the school. When a child is accepted to the school after February 15, her/his application for tuition assistance is accepted at a later date as well. Other required materials include copies of the previous year’s tax return, 1099 and W2 forms. Parents are encouraged to inform the Tuition Assistance Committee in writing of additional relevant information about their financial situation. It is imperative that the school receives full and accurate disclosure of financial information.
