We have a growing list of Small Ways to Make a Big Difference efforts at CLWS. Details of each are below. Drop off bins for items are located in the school office. Energy Bar Wrapper drop-offs are also available in the school store.
SCRIP FUNDRAISING…what is it?
SCRIP (School Cash Rebate Incentive Program) is another name for gift cards. As a non-profit organization, City of Lakes Waldorf School is able to buy these gift cards at discounts ranging from 3% to 22% from a variety of retailers and then sell them at face value. The retailers thus make tax-deductible contributions to our school, and through the combined results of our purchases, thousands of dollars are raised for City of Lakes Waldorf School at absolutely no additional cost to the purchasers. The SCRIP program is run through the School Store.
Why is Scrip so important for our school?
It works. It’s like “free”money! You simply purchase scrip and use it for for purchases that you already make on a regular basis. You can generate revenue for the school by using Scrip for big-ticket items for home maintenance and improvements; special occasion gifts (birthdays, holidays, graduations, weddings, baby showers), family fun (movies, airline tickets, dining out, hotels); sports and hobbies (sporting equipment, craft supplies) and more!
How do I order Scrip cards?
Order online at ShopWithScrip.com. Begin by registering for an account in the Family Sign Up box. Follow the simple registration instructions and then move forward to the next screen to “Join an Organization.” Link your account to CLWS by using our enrollment code: 7A5AF7E829323. Then browse participating stores https://www.shopwithscrip.com/shop/default.aspx and select cards that you wish to purchase.
There are two ways to pay:
Print a copy of the order and drop off in the school office with payment. Orders are shipped directly to the school to the attention of the School Store Scrip coordinator. Orders will be distributed to families upon their arrival.
Please direct questions to Kay Higgins by email at scrip@clws.org.
Did you know we have some Target employees in our parent community? They’ll likely be the first to tell you that education is one of Target’s top priorities. The Take Charge of Education Program (TCOE) allows Target customers to make a real difference simply by using their Target REDcard. Target has plans to donate more than $500 million by the end of 2015 to education which includes funding generated by TCOE. Program payouts are distributed each fall to celebrate the start of a new school year and offer schools additional support to help with unmet needs. CLWS received over $1,000 this year! For information about the TCOE program, please visit http://www.Target.com/tcoe. Cardholders can call 1-800-316-6142 to enroll, select a school, or check the status of payouts. If you shop at Target, please consider signing up and designating CLWS as your chosen school!

TerraCycle eliminates waste by taking what once was non-recyclable material and creating both a recycling program to collect it and programs to convert the waste into useable products. There are two “brigades” that we’re a part of: the Drink Pouch Brigade and the Energy Bar Wrapper Brigade. Below is more information.
Millions of non-recyclable energy bar wrappers end up in landfills. TerraCycle®, Clif Bar® and Odwalla® are committed to converting used wrappers into unique upcycled products – and they donate $0.02 to CLWS for each wrapper we collect! All energy, granola, nutrition, cereal and protein bars with an inner foil lining are acceptable. We cannot accept wrappers that do not have the foil lining or candy wrappers.
Billions of drink pouches end up in dumpsters and landfills. TerraCycle®, Capri Sun® and Honest Kids® are working together to put an end to this by converting the drink pouch material into unique items. TerraCycle pays $0.02 per drink pouch collected, so save those pouches and bring them in!
