CLWS Great Gatherings

“What’s a Great Gathering?” you ask?  Simply put, Great Gatherings are fixed-price, social events designed to get new and old CLWS friends together to have fun while raising needed funds for the school. Each year at the school’s spring fundraiser, we’ve typically rolled out a complete list of gatherings that are open to everyone for the coming year. In 2012, we will once again roll out a “new” list of gatherings for the upcoming year, but we also want to encourage new gatherings to be developed and submitted for entry into the school’s calendar at any time throughout the year. This way, CLWS friends and families can get together at any time with just a bit of planning – all the while supporting CLWS!

Below is a list of current gatherings. Several still have openings! If you’re interested in signing up for any of them, simply stop by the school office and let us know. New gatherings will be created and rolled out at the CLWS Spring Art Auction and Party on April 14, so look for those then and sign up!  Additional gatherings are welcome to be included at any time. Just submit them to the office to ensure they’re communicated broadly to the entire community through the school’s Weekly Update. We hope to see you host and/or attend some great gatherings in the near future!

17         Wine & Food Pairing 101: Come enjoy a lovely tasting menu and mini-seminar on wine pairing with a local wine aficiaonado. Sample four courses of varied food flavors and the wines that best enhance them (not a vegetarian event!). Ten adults, $40/person. (1 spot left!)

Offer a new Great Gathering Now! As you can see, the gatherings vary greatly! Other gatherings held in the past have included ethnic dinners, house concerts, camping trips, wine tastings, museum tours, bike rides, guys poker nights, and artisan pizza parties just to name a few. Events can be held at your home, at a restaurant, and can be for kids only, adults only, or for the whole family. The possibilities are endless! Great Gatherings are tremendous fun and great community builders. So put your thinking caps on, release your inner host, and have some fun! Just fill out the same donation form linked above and submit it to the office. If you have an idea for a Gathering but need a co-host or venue to make it happen, contact development@clws.org.  Thanks!
