We welcome inquiries from parents and families wishing to learn more about City of Lakes Waldorf School. The following steps are designed to help you understand what City of Lakes Waldorf School can bring to your child and how you can support your children’s education at our school.

1. Attend an Enrollment Event

There are a number of enrollment events held throughout the year. At the Information Events, we give an overview of the philosophy and curriculum of Waldorf education. You will also be given an opportunity to meet some of our teachers. During the Classroom Tours, you will take a walk through the early childhood and grades classrooms, stopping to observe along the way. Further reference information is available at all events. Attendance of an enrollment event is mandatory prior to enrolling. Individual tours of the school are scheduled regularly, but do not include classroom observation. Information Events are for adults only, please.

2. Complete an application

Where space permits, students may be accepted into City of Lakes Waldorf School throughout the year. Applicants for the 2009-2010 school year may submit applications beginning November 1, 2009. Families seeking tuition assistance must complete an application and visit by February 15, 2010.

An application is considered complete after the following items are received:

Application Form with non-refundable application fee of $50
Records Release Form
Current photograph of your child (optional)
Applicants for Grades 1-8 may be required to complete an interview with their prospective teacher
In some cases, a recommendation from a current teacher may be required

3. Bring your child for a visit

Pre-Kindergarten/Kindergarten: Your child (applicant) must attend an Early Childhood Gathering with you. During this hour-long session, you and your child will experience a sampling of Early Childhood activities. Early Childhood Gatherings are scheduled during the months of January through May. No siblings, please.

Early Childhood Gatherings will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on the following Saturdays: January 23, February 20, March 20, and May 1, 2010. After receiving an application, the enrollment office will contact you to register your child for a gathering.

Grades: After the teacher reviews the application materials, your child (applicant) may be invited to visit the class for three days. He or she will have the opportunity to experience school days with peers and the teacher will have an opportunity to see the child at work in the class.

4. Receive admissions decision by faculty

The faculty makes all admissions decisions. Grades students are evaluated on the basis of the interview, application and particular needs of each class. You will be contacted regarding our admission decision as soon as possible. If an enrollment offer is made, you will be asked to make a non-refundable deposit and sign a Tuition Contract. If a place is not immediately available, you may request to be placed in our wait group.
