Explore Waldorf education and have your questions answered. Come see how joyful and enlivening school can be. Let us surprise you!
“When we moved to Minneapolis from Chicago we were looking for a school that would emphasize creativity in all areas of study. Changing schools at the beginning of 7th grade can be socially difficult. At the time we knew very little about the Waldorf schools but when we visited the school the emphasis on incorporating the arts with history, music, science and math without the heavy dependence on technology and testing markers that we experienced in the public schools was more in tune with our own teaching philosophy at home. Watching a child grow is like watching a beautiful and exciting play and being newly surprised every time the plot takes a new twist and unfolds. You never know what will happen next. You can only let all the players come together, set the stage and allow the events to proceed. The Waldorf program allows for this to happen in the education process. It allows the child to go above and beyond societal measures. City of Lakes Waldorf School does not measure mediocrity but extols the talents that each child can bring to the community and allows that child to explore their full potential. This philosophy emanates from the children. The students take responsibility for each other as citizens of a community. This can be seen by the seriousness that students have taken in welcoming new students to the school and in their sense of responsibility and support in caring for younger students and their peers. By the time the students at CLWS reach 8th grade they are articulate, well educated, thoughtful young adults, ready to explore the world around them in high school and beyond. Overall the experience that we have had at CLWS has gone beyond our expectations.” -Parent of 8th grade boy, 2012-2013
